Munkbro Breeding Center was founded in 1989 by Laurids Søndergaard and has since then dilivered healthy and robust animals of the Landrace, Duroc and Yorkshire breeds to customers all over the world. The company has steadily grown over the years and today consists of five farms located in scenic surroundings near Holstebro and Herning.
In 2019, the farm Munkbro-Kollund became part of Munkbro Breeding Center. Munkbro-Kollund is a modern facility with 1250 sows for breeding, located between Herning and Brande. The farm focuses on the production of crossbred gilts for both domestic and international sales. We have a total herd of 2500 DanBred sows. We breed 600 sows of the Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire breeds. The remaining sows are used for the production of Hybrid (LY) breeding gilts.
Munkbro Breeding Center and Munkbro-Kollund are today owned and managed by Christian, Jacob, Rune and Laurids, with the first three being involved in the daily operations. Munkbro Breeding Center and Munkbro-Kollund employ 35 skilled and dedicated staff members.
Our Goal
We aim to be the preferred supplier of breeding sows in Denmark as well as in export markets. We take pride in delivering high-quality animals, ensuring that our customers are always satisfied with the product. We work closely with our customers to understand their needs and expectations, which enables us to offer tailored solutions. Munkbro Breeding Center is a breeding center under DanBred, contributing to ensuring that Denmark remains among the very best in the world when it comes to genetics and breeding work. Our primary business area is pig breeding, and we focus on strong and robust animal lines through our breeding systems.
We place great emphasis on breeding systems that ensure health and productivity, so our customers can benefit from optimal growth and quality in their production. It is of utmost importance to us that we always offer healthy and disease-free animals, backed by our long-standing focus on high hygiene standards and minimizing the risk of infection to the lowest possible level.
We are continuously tested by SPF’s health control, and we can deliver animals with a high health status. Through carefully selected breeding and modern methods, we strive to deliver pigs that not only meet but exceed industry standards.
